1970 Dodge Dart Swinger. Factory LM23 FE5 Rallye Red car with a 340(E55)-4-speed (D21) when it rolled off the line at the factory. Since then, the car has been subtly upgraded with a built 360, same 4-speed transmission with a Mcleod Clutch and a full rotisserie restoration transforming it into Sublime Green you see now. Some cars come to us with no information, but this one comes with everything! Tons of restoration bills and receipts come with the car, along with dozens and dozens of pictures of the restoration and engine rebuild! In the paperwork is also a laminated build sheet from under the rear seat. This is a very unique car where the build sheet was a screw up! (known to happen from time to time). The VIN matches on the cowl, fender tag and build sheet, but according to the build sheet the car should have been a Police unit with Police 440 engine, upgraded alternator, radio suppression package, heavy duty batter, spotlights on left and right and a reinforced roof for a cherry on top. The build sheet shows the correct 340, 4 speed and font disc brakes, and performance gauge package, but after that the sheet is blank. Clearly police didn’t order Dart Swingers for their fleet, so the sheet was a screw up. However, the fender tag says it all correctly. There would have been a white stripe on the car instead of black. Dual exhaust with chrome tips, Grill trim mouldings, Hood pins, Painted bottom were all other options. A few period-correct things have also been added to the car to take it from good to great! A vinyl top completes the look of course the color has been changed to FJ5 Sublime Green, a rear wing has been added, dual side exit exhaust sounds great, and power steering added to the newly transplanted 360 to make it a little easier to maneuver. Inside there’s now bucket seats with the driver’s being powered, trip meter on the 150-mph speedometer, A Bluetooth aftermarket stereo and hurst handled shifter. There’s a very well-done JL audio stereo system with amp, speakers and hidden sub box in the trunk, and a custom-built trunk treatment with embossed fabricated floor and side panels that house vintage Dart manuals and a picture album of the restoration of the car. There’s even a custom hand carved Dart sign back there! The new rebuilt 360 is not just any engine, tons of receipts come with it that outline all the performance parts, cam, and other goodies that have it making 384 hp and 424 lb feet of torque according to a dyno sheet included. Although in some ways this car is true to its heritage, in others it’s very customized. The odometer shows 28,000 miles, but with an engine swap and a 5-digit odometer, true milage is unknown.
