1996 Ford Mustang Cobra SVT in the rare and hard to find factory color changing paint called Mystic! Depending on the light and view angle, the car changed color before your eyes between green, amber, gold, blue, teal and purple! In ’96 ford only made 1,999 cars in this color and it was only available on the SVT Cobra. This one has been documented to be #6 of the total production! This car is in incredible condition and with ultra low milage, and it’s the sort of car that can be driven or could be stored to preserve it while it just appreciates in value. The car has a proven 27,700 kms (or 17,200 miles) and was sold new as a Canadian Car. Some very minor paint bruises on the front bumper of the car are the only blemishes across the whole thing. Otherwise, it’s flawless and shiny. The car has been driven, but the underside is still very clean. No rock chips to speak of. Wheels are factory and are again, a 9.8 out of 10 for condition. SVT Cobra’s received all the special treatments at the Ford factory including a hand built 4.6-liter double overhead cam V8 good for 305 hp and 300 lb-ft of torque. Those numbers aren’t impressive by today’s sports car figures, but at the time, it was quick scooting to 60 mph in 5.1 seconds. The engine still wears its builder’s signature plate – this one built by guys named Paul W and Dave Snider and the engine bay and motor itself are all highly detailed and wonderfully clean. It’s backed by a Borg Warner T-45 5-speed manual transmission. Everything about this car feels new still. Let’s face it, Ford’s plastic wasn’t all that great in the 90’s, especially for cars that spent time in the sun, but this one is superb inside and its very obvious by the like new condition, that this one was stored properly. No cracks in the dash or door panels and no visible wear anywhere. Even the carpet floor mats remain like new. The Mystick Mustang was also ordered with the MACH 460 upgraded sound system featuring a 460-watt peak amplifier and upgraded speakers, along with the optional in-dash CD changer. Cassettes still play in this one too! The leather upholstery is in excellent condition with almost zero wear and tear. As usual, the front two seats have some very minor creases in the leather, but for the age, they are excellent. Plenty of options also including power windows, power mirrors, power locks, full white-faced gauges, security system, A/C, tilt wheel, cruise control and fog lights. All the original owners manuals and pamphlets are still in the factory zip up case and an original sales brochure comes with the car. The spare tire has clearly never come out of the car, and the jack and tire iron are all in place. Recent work in 2024 to the car includes fuel tank drain and clean, new fuel filter, new serpentine belt, new spark plugs and wires, new coolant hoses, thermostat, temp sending unit and long-life coolant, new BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2 tires, new battery clamps, and of course an oil and filter change. Very rare, low milage and very nice. These don’t come around often anymore and certainly not like this!
