1962 Bel Air

1962 Chevrolet Bel Air 4-door sedan. We absolutely love when we get a car here at Rod's that comes with history and documentation and boy, does this car have a story to tell. Bought brand new by a WWII RCAF veteran nicknamed "Red" at Beny's Chevrolet in Medicine Hat, this was a one owner car up until 2014, when the most recent owner purchased it. Sadly, Red passed away about a year after he sold his car of 52 years. A great write up about Red's life is included with the Bel Air. Red was great at keeping documents, and there are piles of receipts for oil changes and service work done at the dealership throughout the decades. Some of the earliest receipts are for only a few dollars for an entire lube job! The story goes that Red drove this car daily until he retired in 1985. He must have loved the car, because it's still wearing its factory paint from '62! There are a few chips and scratches here and there, but overall, the finish is still very nice. Under the hood, you'll find the very original 92,000 mile 283 2-bbl V8 backed by a 3-speed on the tree manual transmission. Documentation provided with the car proves the milage on this one. The firewall still has the grease paint marks on it, and it's pretty clear that the powertrain has never come out of this car. Everything works as it should, and there's new belts and hoses. The only change from factory appears to be a HEI distributor instead of the old points and condenser. Inside the car, the front seat has been recovered, but the headliner, door panels, rear seat, dash and possibly the carpet appear to be factory original! Everything again is in working order with all of the gauges, buttons and switches doing what they should. A modern retro sound stereo is in place of the original AM radio and seatbelts were retrofitted at some point. The trunk still wears its spackle finish, and the original spare tire, jack and tire iron are all there. Right now, the car wears torque thrusts, but factory hubcaps, wheels and whitewall tires are in the trunk along with a bin of spare parts. The factory original keys and owner’s manual are all in the car too. The last owner kept up with Red's tradition of keeping bills and records of all the service work. Between 2014 and 2020, some light mechanical work was completed along with tune up work to keep the ol’ girl in tip top shape, including a new Radiator and hoses, new shocks, new brakes and all fluids have been replaced. The car starts up instantly and purrs on idle. New dual exhaust with flowmasters have been added and give the Bel Air a small bit of attitude. Want to be the next caretaker of this sweetheart Bel Air? We think you'll absolutely fall in love with this one!
