1949 Mercury Lead Sled Custom
$ 59,990
1949 Mercury Lead Sled Custom. Incredible car that has survived remarkably well for being customized some time in the late 80's or early 90's. Features a full-size Oldsmobile frame with an Olds Rocket 350 V8, Th-350 and rear end all from '79 or '80. It runs power disc brakes up front and drums in the rear and has power steering. There's plenty of chrome under the hood in all the right places. This car has every adjective! It's been lowered, chopped, shaved, decked, frenched, and the list goes on and on! It has full length rear quarter skirts which hide the rear tires perfectly. There's a shaved firewall under the hood, dual frenched antennas in the front doors, dual spotlights, flipped bumpers, a molded continental kit and to top it all off, an amazing silver paint job with incredible burnt orange flames that are well buried in clear coat. The chrome Lake Pipes are fake but look fantastic with the build. The chrome ladies on the hubcaps are a bit of a bonus. Inside, the interior is just as customized featuring more Olds gear including some of the most comfortable power leather seats you've ever sat it, tilt steering column, power windows, cruise control, a very nice modern stereo and a huge array of gauges displaying everything you could ever want to know. There's a real wood dash that leads down to a wood center console and features Vintage Air A/C controls and even a color TV! (from the 90's) There's been plenty of custom work on this tan interior. The car was sold in 2007 at Barret Jackson Scottsdale for 87,000 USD, so that should give you some indication of the quality of this build. Runs and drives very nice. The paint has survived well, but there is the odd crack, nick and scratch here and there. The 5-digit odometer reads 10,000 miles, but we assume that is since the build was completed. True milage of the powertrain is unknown.
Gotta sandbox daddy-oh? This cool cat's gotta go!
