1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS 396 4-Speed. From factory this one was equipped with A/C, however most of those components under the hood have been removed. 138 Vin confirms it’s a true SS and EE paint code means it started life wearing Danube Blue Poly (just like the other one next to it in the pictures!). Some numbers showing on the engine pad, but without a matching vin, the current 396 is either a warranty block, or has been planed down during an engine rebuild removing the vin number. We can’t confirm it’s officially numbers matching. This one also has a few other tasteful upgrades beyond stock. 4-wheel power disc brakes are now in place as well as QA1 rear 4-link suspension components. The underside looks just as good as the top with a fully powder coated frame that was completed when the frame off restoration took place. Out back is a 12-bolt rear end, and the 396 now features Sniper fuel injection. The interior is largely stock, and still has the radio delete plate in place on the dash. The instruments however have been upgraded a full Autometer set including fuel, volts, water temp, oil pressure tach and speedo with digital odometer. The car shows just 27 miles since the rebuild was completed. There’s also a digital Sniper controller with the car. The rest of the interior is very handsome in black. The trunk is finished in black coating as well and looks excellent. The paint is top notch. A fresh polish has it smooth as butter and very rich looking. All of the trim and brightwork is very good. American racing wheels and tires suit the era of the car well. The engine bay is neat and tidy, although if we get the chance, we will replace the chromed valve covers with new ones. Edelbrock intake and HEI ignition are nice improvements. The car runs nicely and sounds great. Not much to pick apart on this one as it’s just that nice! Enter any car show, or drive it anywhere!
