1978 Pontiac Trans Am Pro Street
$ 34,990
1978 Pontiac Trans Am Pro Street. Iconic car in black with a gold hood bird! This isn’t your stock T/A though. Thousand and thousands spent on performance parts to make it one incredible driver! Most of the work was completed in 2002 and around that time. Two binders full of receipts and other documents come with the car outlining exactly what’s been done to it. Far too much to list, but here’s a few things we know. Still under the hood is a Pontiac 400 big block with custom grind Comp Cams, custom aluminum heads, high rise intake, big 750 CFM Demon carb and huge Headman headers. It’s got magnum roller rocker arms, forged connecting rods and MSD ignition. There’s March pulleys an aluminum rad and electric fans. Behind that is a TH350 with high stall converter and manual valve body with reverse on a button on the steering wheel. Pictures with the build capture all the work that went into the car. There are coil overs in the back as well as a ladder bar set up and a sweet pair of slicks on the back axle which houses strange axles. We haven’t located the axle ratio just yet, but It’s probably hidden some where in the associated paperwork. The black paint is nice on the car and still quite glossy! A fresh polish at our shop has it looking very nice (not polished when pics were taken). The interior has lots of new pieces like door cards, weather stripping, window lace and carbon fiber cluster panel, but it appears the seat upholstery is original. Even so, it's in great condition. A new reverse pattern racing grip shifter is in place of the original but it’s been done tastefully to not destroy the original console. Car has power windows and no radio. The soundtrack from the engine is music enough The dash was restored according to pictures included with the car, and besides the cluster panel, the rest is stock. A grant racing wheel is in place of the original. All gauges are new and modern auto meter units. This was a factory A/C car, but apart from the controls all other components have been removed. The shaker scoop is now mounted to the hood instead of the air cleaner to accommodate engine space, but it still sucks in fresh air. Impressively the car runs and drives very well. It’s certainly rowdy, but still well behaved enough to be street driven. Milage is unknown.
